Bumper Pool Rules

Bumper pool rules are similar to the usual pool but slightly different. These bumper pools are faster than the usual pool game and almost anyone can enjoy this game and learn the rules quick. The game is usually for amateur players and it is played on rectangular or octagonal tables. Bumper pools were actually created for giving the pool experience at a cheaper price. In addition, the sticks and balls used in the bumper pool is also smaller when compared to the usual pool.

Bumper pool table rules allow either two individuals or two teams comprising of two players per side competing against each other. In order to play bumper pool games, people would require a smaller table with holes on each side of the table and the middle part of the table having intersecting parts. The table would have a total of ten balls: five red ones and other wife would be white balls. There would be two balls from both colors with dots on them. These are cue balls and the dots on the ball would help in differentiating it from the other eight balls.

Bumper Pool Rules – The Basics

The set up of the game is pretty easy with the balls belonging to each players placed on the other side of the pockets. The four balls are placed on either side of the pocket with two on each side and the cue ball is placed before the pocket. This is the same placement even on the other side of the table.

The first shot involves both the players shooting the cue ball to the pockets on the opposite sides. The pocket cannot be hit directly as there are hurdles in the middle of the table. Due to these hurdles, the players usually hit the side of the table and try to get an angel pointing towards the opposite pocket. This is not as easy as it sounds and many players really find it hard to pocket their balls. The players would usually keep trying to hit the pocket over and over again until they hit the target.

Playing Within The Bumper Pool Rules

The players would not take a shot at the pocket simultaneously. There would be turns and the player who puts the ball into the pocket would be given another chance. The chance would rollover to the other player only if the first player misses the target. The rest of the balls cannot be put into the pocket before the cue ball due to bumper pool rules. It is therefore essential that the player puts in the cue ball first and then tries putting in the other balls.

If during the play, player shoots the ball out of the table, then the opposite player gets an opportunity to place the ball in any particular place that he wants to put on the table. This penalty is also put into place if a player shoots the ball over the opposite player’s ball. And the penalty would also be in the picture if the player does not put the cue ball before pocketing other balls on the opposite side. As per bumper pool rules, the player would not be penalized if he shoots the balls of the opposite player into a pocket.
